The Company

Founded in 2010 by Brett S Turner in the wake of the 2008 recession, Whitaker Investment Group was formed for strategic acquisition of distressed real estate assets in the southeastern United States, specifically workouts of development projects. Through the early 2000s, WIG acquired and redeveloped single and multi family developments, downtown commercial multi-tenant properties and built a vacation rental property portfolio. Strategic relationships with private equity were developed for project capitalization.

Mr. Turner graduated with a degree in political science with a minor in business from University of Florida in 1991. His career started in Jacksonville, Florida, as the President of Brookwood Properties, Inc., with the development of single family properties in St Johns County Florida. In the mid 90s, Mr. Turner’s business migrated to Southeast Georgia where he developed numerous projects in the Savannah GA MSA for the next 20 years.

Mr Turner has been active in a number of organizations, including the National Association of Homebuilders, Urban Land Institute, as well as being a rotarian. Positions included President of the local homebuilder’s association, chairman of the engineers and developer’s counsel, member of the land developer 20 club (NAHB), and board member of the chamber of commerce.

Mr. Turner’s expertise includes the development of master planned communities, project financing and debt equity structure, construction and ownership of private utility systems, and the operation of ancillary businesses such as a golf course, a downtown Cafe and a vacation rental business.

Mr. Turner currently lives in Charleston, SC.

THE TEAM

Chuck Sprinkle

General Manager, Mountain Classic Homes, LLC

Mountain Classic Homes, LLC was formed in 2021 to manage Whitaker Investment Group’s vertical construction projects in the Asheville area and pursue other homebuilding opportunities. As an Asheville native with 30 years experience in the construction business, Mr. Sprinkle was a logical fit to head up operations.

Native to the Asheville, North Carolina, area, Mr. Sprinkle has deep ties to the western North Carolina region. Growing up in the Enka Candler community, the son of a pastor and carpenter, Sprinkle got his start early and assisted in building the family home from ground up. After high school, Sprinkle pursued and earned his machinist degree and began working on producing turbo chargers for both on and off road vehicles. This type of precision based work refined his ability to really pay attention the details. It was a natural transition to pivot back towards building and he fine tuned his craft on a myriad of ground up projects. Sprinkle brings with him a wealth of knowledge from the construction business and has a natural intuition for building in the notoriously difficult mountain region. With an impressive building career spanning over 30 years, he has been armed with his GC license since 2003. His reputation as a builder has been forged with integrity, experience, quality craftsmanship, attention to detail, top notch customer service, and delivers his projects on time and on budget. He is also known to be the hardest worker on site, no job is too big or too small, as they are all a culmination of a project well done.

Judith Puckett-Rinella

Judith Puckett-Rinella founded Historic Keys, a South Carolinian based development firm which was created to cultivate the rich history of Charleston and harness the economic real estate potential of the area. She also founded Whisper Editions in NYC — a tech e-commerce company with a brick and mortar home in the South Street Seaport that focuses on collaborations with the world’s most pre-eminent artists and makers.

She began her career as a photography director, rising through the ranks at an executive level for distinguished magazines like BlackBook and Details to T: The New York Times Style Magazine and, most recently, Vanity Fair. Puckett-Rinella has worked with the brightest stars from the worlds of art, business, & entertainment, among them Tom Cruise, Penelope Cruz, Jeff Koons, George Clooney, Elon Musk, Sean Penn, Sophia Coppola, Mick Jagger, Julia Roberts, Lou Reed, Charlize Theron, and Matthew McConaughey. Through her global travels as an editor of style and design she found herself working with the world’s top designers such as Giorgio Armani, Dolce & Gabbana, Yves Saint Laurent, and her favorite, Ralph Lauren. She has built a keen eye for executing original concepts of high design & architecture in the worlds of hospitably and living. She has been nominated for four Emmy Awards and has won two Webby Awards.
